The University of British Columbia, established in 1908, educates a student population of 50,000 on major campuses in two cities; Vancouver is the larger campus and Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley is a newer campus.

Narrating Landscapes is a collection of entries on plants, people, places and times, as well as their uses and meanings. Users may relate entries to one another, adding their own narratives and stories about ecological relationships and experiences.
